While we are renting a house in Kyoto we are…

While we are renting a house in Kyoto we are well taken care of, a local restaurant delivers breakfast every morning and there is housekeeping and turndown service. So yeah quite a bit of luxury.
Our plans for this day is a visit to Nara, this historical city also has a light up illumination event. Since this only starts at 7 p.m. we plan to to make a stop along the way at Uji, this city is famous for it’s matcha green tea and the Byodo-in temple an unesco world heritage site.
We arrive in Nara at around 3 in the afternoon, we still have a bit of daylight left to see some of the halls and temples and ofcourse, Nara’s famous deer.
at 7 we start following the recommended route and enjoy the 20.000 candles around the city. At the Todaiji temple (the seat the largest bronze buddha an in Japan and the world’s largest wooden building) we had to chance to see Buddha look our through the top window of the hall, this is only opened twice a year and gives an amazing view in combination with the lights inside.
